Ms. Rachel Is Sick and Calls in Backup ... From Herself. See the Viral Video

"Ms. Rachel using herself as a babysitter is the best thing ever."

In addition to teaching valuable skills, YouTube sensation Ms. Rachel has kept millions of babies entertained while their moms just need a break. This week, the mom most in need of a break is Ms. Rachel herself.

In a viral video that has amassed 6 million views since it was posted on June 26, Ms. Rachel — whose real name is Rachel Griffin Accurso — looked a bit disheveled and exhausted as she soothed new baby Susannah.

"So I didn't want to try this yet, but I have horrible laryngitis and a horrible cough, and I'm not supposed to talk at all, and when I talk I cough more and more and more," she said.

In the next shot, you see sweet little Susannah relaxing in an infant seat, presumably facing a screen that is playing an episode of her mom's show. You can hear Ms. Rachel on the screen saying, "Can you say, 'Mama'?" as Susannah reacted with a broad smile.

Accurso previously shared with TODAY.com that life as a family of four — with Aron Accurso (her husband, on-camera sidekick and best friend) and 7-year-old Thomas — is joyous but exhausting.

“Susie has started sleeping better, and now I’m functioning better,” Accurso shared at the end of April.

She's also been loving watching the interaction between her son and his new little sister. "Joy. Hope. Love. Peace," she captioned the first image she shared of her children together on June 25.

But as any parent knows, illness can throw a wrench into even the most harmonious household.

Ms. Rachel fans commented on her video:

  • "Even Ms. Rachel needs Ms. Rachel."
  • "Ms. Rachel using herself as a babysitter is the best thing ever."
  • "Playing your own TV shows when sick is a flex. Lol."
  • "Imagine being Ms. Rachel’s child and getting new Ms. Rachel content DAILY."

After a few comments seemed to rib Accurso for giving her newborn screen time, Accurso figured out an even more meta solution to losing her voice.

She wrote: "OK now I’m turning her away from it and lip synching!"
