After years together, Halle Berry and Van Hunt are still lucky in love.
Ever since they went public with their relationship in 2020, the actor and her musician beau haven't been shy about public displays of affection and adorable declarations of love.
In May, the couple appeared in bed together in a cheeky video underneath the sheets. When Hunt, 55, celebrated a birthday earlier this year, Berry called him her “best friend.”
Meanwhile, Hunt has said he feels “warm and fuzzy” seeing his longtime girlfriend so happy in their relationship.

Van Hunt Is a Grammy-Winning Musician
Much like Berry, Hunt is also in the entertainment industry and is an accomplished musician with several albums under his belt.
Record executive and “American Idol” alum Randy Jackson began managing Hunt in 2002, per Essence.
Hunt has been nominated for two Grammy awards and has won one for R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 2007 for “Family Affair.”
In 2021, Berry told People her beau made music for her film “Bruised” and wrote the title song.
While appearing on an episode of the “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard” podcast in 2024, Berry called her beau a “wonderful lyricist,” adding, “his songs have meaning.”
Van Hunt Is a Proud Dad
Hunt described parenting his son as “a lot of fun” in a 2011 interview.
“I can’t imagine anybody not wanting to explore the opportunity to be a father, if you should decide to have a child,” he said at the time.
While chatting with Entertainment Tonight in 2021, Hunt said Berry had influenced more than just his music and had helped shaped the way he parents his son.
“The inspiration for our relationship goes across everything, even in my parenting. I’m a completely different person, I can say it like that, and I think that it’s improved every aspect of my life,” he said.
Van Hunt and Halle Berry met through a friend
On the “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard” in 2024, Berry explained how she met Hunt through a friend.
As it turns out, Hunt’s brother worked with someone who was working with Berry on her Respin brand. A year before the pandemic hit, he suggested that they would be a great fit and she said she didn’t do relationship setups. Later on, another colleague suggested the same thing.
Meanwhile, Hunt’s brother was hounding the musician, telling him he should call Berry. At the onset of the pandemic, he made a move and texted her.
Van Hunt and Halle Berry Grew Close During the Pandemic
During the early days of their courtship, Hunt and Berry took things slow.
“Because of COVID, we spent four months talking on the phone. We were forced to only let our brains connect and discover if we had a connection before our bodies decided to get involved. I’d never done it this way. We talked for hours and hours and hours and hours and never got tired,” Berry told AARP in 2022.
Slowly but surely, Berry “fell in love with his mind.”
“I really liked who he was, and I can’t say I felt that way before. I really believe I’ve found my person. I fell in love with him before I even met him,” she added.
While chatting with Marie Claire about her relationship in September 2024, Berry said she and Hunt waited to become intimate with each other until they were in love.
“It was the first time I was madly in love before I had sex. That has never happened to me, ever,” she said. “Talk about one of those life-changing, beautiful experiences. It was magical, just magical.”
The couple went public with their relationship in 2020 and have been going strong ever since.
Van Hunt Studied English at Morehouse College
Before leaving Morehouse College to embark on a career in music, Hunt was an English major.
In a 2020 interview with Essence, he said he was a “terrible student” but admitted he’d likely be working in “applied mathematics or astrophysics” if he weren’t a musician.
Van Hunt's Grandfather Came Up With His Name
During an interview with Essence, Hunt shared the story behind his name, saying, “My grandfather found the name, but he wasn’t much of a talker. So no one knows really where the name came from. My father is older than the invention of the van (laughs), so I know it didn’t come from there.”

Boxing is one of several ways Hunt likes to stay active. While speaking with Essence in 2020, he revealed that he started the workout while working on his last album.
“Someone had bought the training for me as a gift just to distract me from the process,” he said.
Halle Berry Says She ‘Manifested’ Van Hunt
While appearing on TODAY with Jenna & Friends in February 2025, Berry said she “manifested” her boyfriend.
“Having gone through three divorces, I finally knew what wasn’t working, and I realized I was always saying to the universe what I didn’t want — what I didn’t want,” she said. “So guess what I did? I manifested what I didn’t want. So, I really had to change my thinking, and instead of thinking of what I didn’t want, I had to get intentional with what I did want.”
During a 2021 interview with Women's Health, Berry also gushed about the divine timing of her relationship with Hunt.
“I wish I had met him sooner so I could have loved him longer. I just feel fulfilled. I feel happy in my life romantically, as a mother, as an artist. I’m a much better mother in this circumstance than I would have been had I stayed in a romantic relationship that didn’t serve me and didn’t make me feel the way I need to feel as a woman,” she said.
Van Hunt Played a Role in Halle Berry's Menopause Health Brand, Respin
Berry said that part of the reason she launched intimacy products for her Respin health brand, which focuses on supporting women going through menopause, was to find a way to get her "sex life back."
"I found out that I was in menopause because I had dry vagina syndrome," she tells TODAY.com. "And so I think the best founders create products that ... they’re solving a need for themselves. And so that’s what I was doing. I was trying to figure out a way that I could get my sex life back, because sex is as important for women as it is to men."
Berry says after creating an intimacy gel, she and Hunt "spin often now."
"Your sex life doesn’t have to come to an end when you reach this time of life," she says.
Van Hunt Says He Already Proposed to Halle Berry and Is Waiting on an Answer
In an exclusive interview with TODAY.com on June 4, Van Hunt revealed that he already popped the question to Berry, but hasn't received an official response.
"So I put out the proposal, and it’s still on hold as you can see," Hunt said as Berry laughed. "It’s just out there floating. You know, maybe you can encourage her."
Though Berry did confirm that she planned give Hunt a firm answer to his question, "soon," the Oscar winner explained why she wasn't in a rush.
“Well, I’ve been married three times. Van has been married once, and so no, we don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way. We don’t,” Berry said.
“But I think we will get married just because, out of the people I’ve been married to, this is the person I should have married,” Berry continued. “And I feel like I should, we should get married, but it’s not because we feel like we have to. I think it’s something that we would like to do just because we want that expression.”
