Cory Monteith's Mom Dies Weeks After Death of 'Glee' Star's Dad

The late "Glee" star died in July 2013 of an of an apparent accidental heroin and alcohol overdose.

Late “Glee” star Cory Monteith’s mother, Ann McGregor, has died just weeks after the actor's father, Joe Monteith, passed away. She was 74.

McGregor “passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025,” according to her obituary, which also states she was receiving care at a Canadian hospital before her death.

“We would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and palliative care staff at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon for the impeccable care Ann received while there,” the obituary reads.

In lieu of a funeral, the obituary shares that the family will hold “a private send-off to honor Ann’s life” at a later time.

McGregor died just over a month after ex-husband Joe Monteith died May 12 at the age of 75. According to his obituary, he was receiving treatment for months before his death.

“The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the palliative care unit at the DECH for their outstanding care and compassion over the last few months,” his obituary read.

In July 2013, Cory Monteith died of an apparent accidental overdose of heroin and alcohol. The actor, who’s known for playing Finn Hudson on hit musical-comedy series “Glee,” was found dead in a downtown Vancouver hotel room.

Five years after his death, McGregor did an interview with People, opening up about the tragedy of losing her son.

“I still can’t pick up the pieces,” she said during the 2018 interview. “My world totally stopped. And I’m a different person than I was before.”

McGregor explained that Cory Monteith was in and out of rehab in his teens and it wasn't until he went to Hollywood that his sobriety wavered, causing him to fall back into old habits.

“He wasn’t ready for the Hollywood world,” she said. “Drugs were his way of checking out.”
